“Child” refers to children who are 6 to 11 years old at the time when the JAPAN RAIL PASS is used. (Persons who are 12 years and older are deemed to be “adults.”) However, if the child is 11 years old at the time the payment is made when purchasing through the online sales service or when the Exchange Order is issued at the time of purchasing overseas, the child will still be cosidered 11 years old even if the child is actually 12 years old when using the PASS.
When using “NOZOMI” or “MIZUHO” Shinkansen bullet trains on the Tokaido, Sanyo, or Kyushu Shinkansen lines, you need to have a special ticket issuable only to JAPAN RAIL PASS holders.
The above table shows the prices for the JAPAN RAIL PASS. Payment will be settled in Japanese yen when purchasing online. The market price in local currency outside of Japan will be converted from yen at the BSR (Bankers Selling Rate) when the Exchange Order is issued. Please note that the exchange rate at the time of purchase may differ from the exchange rate when visiting Japan. The price in local currency, real rate of exchange and the Exchange Order issue date are indicated on the Exchange Order. The child price will apply to children who are aged 6 to 11 as of the online purchase date or Exchange Order issue date. (Prices are subject to change. In that case, the price indicated as of purchasing online or issuing the Exchange Order will apply.)
